La Boheme

The BSO is bringing Puccini’s masterpiece to the Collins Center for a special 120th anniversary performance. This classical tale of Bohemian life, love and loss in 19th century Paris will feature tenor John Bellemer (recently seen at Boston Lyric Opera) as Rodolfo  and rising star Emily Birsan (recently seen at the Lyric Opera of Chicago) as Mimi. Joining the cast as Colline is Bangor’s own Eric Mihan. In this semi-staged performance, the BSO will be joined on stage by the University of Maine Singers, Oratorio Society, and Bangor Area Children’s Choir.

Our program features Mozart’s iconic Piano Quintet KV. 452, a masterful intertwining of winds and piano and Poulenc’s raucous yet sentimentale Sextet for winds and piano. Rounding out the afternoon is a seldom heard quintet by Russian composer Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov entitled “An Evening Georgia”.
